Afternoon Tea with Club 90: Their Story, Their Legacy, Their Love

Annie SprinkleCandida RoyalleVeronica HartVeronica Vera,

moderated by Jackie Strano

Sunday, September 14, 2014 3:00pm – 5:00pm

Five stars from the “Golden Age of Porn”, Veronica Hart, Gloria Leonard, Candida Royalle, Veronica Vera and Annie Sprinkle were the original “Sex and the City” girls. Turning to one another for the support they needed to navigate their way through life in the world of blue movies, these dynamic women created “Club 90” in 1983, forming a bond that would continue for over thirty years. They went on to pursue their personal goals, and in the process, blazed new trails in the fields of human sexuality, women’s empowerment, gender, erotic expression, and free speech. Plus they each earned doctorates!

Come get a taste of the days when NYC was America’s sex film capital, movies were shot on 35mm film, making porn was cause for arrest, and Times Square was x-rated! A time before AIDS, Internet, social media and the ubiquitous smart phone. Most of all, come share the laughs, the drama and the intimate stories of this controversial support group and be inspired to start one of your own. Gloria Leonard passed away earlier this year; a chair will be on stage to represent her undying spirit and the love felt in the hearts of her remaining Club 90 sisters. This rare reunion promises to be candid, informative and electric!

Fri, August 8, 2014
 - Sun, August 10, 2014
Hamburg, Germany

I'll be performing, and on a panel, at this unique conference.

"Alice Schwarzer’s call to ban prostitution has prompted an animated discussion in the German media. Beyond the moral and political questions of how to handle sex work, it has also become very clear that the debate is dominated by projections, fantasies and myths. There is little reliable information available on sex work because this business remains highly stigmatised and sex workers themselves rarely participate in the public representation of their profession. Collaborating with Missy Magazine, the International Summer Festival is hosting a conference at which academics, sex workers, artists and media professionals will engage in lectures, discussions and performances to examine the images of sex work that continue to dominate the discussion. What does this picture say about what society makes of sex work, about its relationship to working women, sexuality and sexual morality, gender, migration and poverty?"

Sun, June 8, 2014
 - Thu, June 12, 2014
Sheffield, England

We are totally over the moon that our film "Good-Bye Gauley Mountain: an Ecosexual Love Affair"  will be screening in one of the top documentary film festivals in the world.

And I will be facilitating "Ectasy and Breathing and the Creative Process" with my dear friend Barbara Carrellas.

"Barbara Carrellas and Annie Sprinkle have travelled the world to learn new and ancient techniques to create ecstasy and bliss. They will share with you their favourite: Ecstasy Breathing and Energy Orgasms. It’s an artistic vision quest, a sexual healing session, an emotional cleansing, and a mind expanding shamanic journey all rolled into one yummy pleasurable experience. This technique can profoundly change your experience of your sexuality and its creative possibilities. Annie and Barbara will provide a safe, supportive, gentle, yet energised atmosphere. They have taught this technique to thousands of people of all ages, races, genders, backgrounds and beliefs. Although this is a participatory workshop, there will be no nudity and you will not be asked to work with a partner."

Annie Sprinkle and her partner/collaborator, Beth Stephens, have developed a new field of research which explores the places where sexology and ecology intersect—SexEcology. They create experimental theater, visual art, documentary film, lead ecosex walking tours and workshops, all aiming to make the environmental movement a little more sexy, fun and diverse by shifting the metaphor of “Earth as mother” to “Earth as lover.” Annie Sprinkle will share some of the work she and Beth have been doing, and stimulate discussion with the audience. Once you learn more about the budding ecosex movement, you just might discover you are an ecosexual too. Performance Studies venue seats only 100 people so please RSVP to this event through the Facebook link below.
